Selena Gomez’s friend Francia Risa reacts to the stars wedding with Benny Blanco. Ahead of the pair’s nuptuals, Francia, who was not confirmed as a guest at the event, addressed speculation she and Selena may be at odds in an interview with Univision September 25th. Francia quickly shut down any feud speculation, telling the outlet, “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her.” The 37year-old also subtly mentioned the duo’s past in which Francia famously donated one of her kidneys to Selena in 2017 amid the stars battle with lupus. She stated, “Look, she has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her.” Back in 2017, Selena documented the medical procedure, sharing an image of her and Francia holding hands in hospital beds on Instagram and writing, “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Risa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much, sis. As fans know, the pair’s longtime friendship has ebbed and flowed with Francia stating in 2023 that she and Selena had drifted apart and hadn’t spoken much in 6 years, but declared that year the two never really had beef with each other. And the following year, she opened up about their relationship in an interview with ENews, saying, “I think our support for one another just means everything. We met in 2008 and just like any sibling, we go through our ups and downs. Francia is obviously being graceful which is admirable but they are not in a good place if she didn’t go to the wedding and work wasn’t keeping her from attending since she was dancing on her social media. I want to say Selena is super weird for continuously putting Taylor up on a pedestal above everyone else including Francia who chose to potentially save her life who’s known Selena for just as long give or take 2-3 years but maybe just maybe Francia has taken issue with Selena after the last time they publicly met up for dinner which was post-documentary drama because of something she disagrees w Selena about? Because I really can’t believe that Selena would b so shxtty to not invite her for no good reason.. Shame they ain’t in a good place. Selena from what I’ve observed stops being friends w people who’ve been with her for many years i.e Demi, and now Francia while putting Taylor on a pedestal, always. It’s weird.

Francia had been too pressurising on Selena since transplant to be like this/that, to eat like this/that, to not touch a drop of alcohol etc etc etc….. sometimes a person needs space and comfort to heal..… its extremely difficult for a person to feel pressured, suffocated under those circumstances, and not heal well…. I am sure Selena is eternally grateful and would have thanked her with materials too…. but doesn’t mean you be tethered and feel suffocated & drained…

Idk but I have a feeling the fallout of their friendship wasn’t their fault but someone got in between them and put them against each other. I think it was that controlling girl that was on the docu.
Am sorry, yes they are friends but they are NOT sooooo close as everyone thinks. This is obvious for everyone to see. Yes she donated her kidney but Selena has a few family members. We don’t know if they were checked to be a match or if Francia insisted on it being her. We might never know the real truth of what really happened.
Some people you might be friendly with or they are acquaintances you keep it polite and keep it moving but you might not have trust for them like you do for other people.
Just because someone gave you a kidney not thinking as to whether a future child of theirs might need it instead should not mean that all of a sudden they are the most trusted person in your life or they own you now. People can also be manipulative and do things for gains.
Not saying this is exactly what happened but it’s clear who Selena’s actual close friends are or friend group and Francia has never been part of that.
It annoys me when people talk as if this is Selena’s best friend and it clearly is not the case. I think Selena said it once or twice out of politeness or guilt.
