Meghan Markle will allegedly return to the UK before the end of the year, according to one of her pals. The Duchess of Sussex is not known to have set foot in her husband Prince Harry’s home country in three years.
Meghan’s last visit to the UK was back in September 2022, when the Sussexes carried out a series of engagements linked to organisations close to their heart and then attended the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Last week, she made headlines as she travelled to France for Paris Fashion Week, which was classed as her first trip to Europe in three years. According to reports, Meghan’s trip to France was the first step of a wider “plot” by the Sussexes to thaw their frosty relationship with the Royal Family, with the couple set to make a joint appearance in Britain soon.
The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden cited pals of the couple and claimed that Harry and Meghan will make their joint outing in the UK just before Christmas.
He wrote: “I can disclose that the next planned move in the plot – or ‘process’ as their pals prefer to put it, suggesting a natural progression – is the couple’s first joint visit to Britain since they attended a charity engagement in September 2022, then stayed on for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.”
According to the outlet, a pal of the Sussexes said that the Duchess will come back “bearing humble pie,” adding: “Meghan will return to Britain before the year is out.”
Mr Eden said: “It remains to be seen whether ‘bearing humble pie’ – and eating it, presumably – is sufficient to placate the Royal Family or the British people.”
The Duchess’s relationship with the Royal Family turned frosty after her and Prince Harry’s sensational exit five years ago.
Harry and Meghan made a series of claims against the royals over the past five years, with Firm members in turn having largely refrained from making any comments on them.
Meghan’s potential return to the UK was recently teased by the Duke of Sussex during his trip to Ukraine after his four-day visit to Britain.
The Duke was asked by the Guardian whether he hoped to return to Britain with his wife and children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to which he replied: “This week has definitely brought that closer.”
There has been no official confirmation of the Duchess making a trip to the UK any time soon.
