Remember when she and Bill Murray dated for a couple months? I don’t have a point, just like remembering that that happened.

    2. I think the music video made the song popular also. I will always remember it!

    3. I am so afraid that something will turn me on Kellis someday. I wasn’t even sure who I was jealous of when she got married.

    4. Milkshake and Hey Ya back to back, what a year for music! I don’t have this for many songs, but I vividly remember it coming out. Walking the halls and classrooms of my middle school and singing/speaking the parts.

It’s a shame about Pharrel. If he had something to do with him over shadow Kelis then I’m not surprised. By that time it started getting to his head and he became a corporation instead. He has this super chill and humble persona, but there have been enough conflicting instances since.
Though the fact that he’s friends with K Dot gives some points bc he doesnt hang with fake people.
Fuck that pushing P, I’m talking about Pusha T!

Kelis is such an amazing musician, but US radio just doesn’t like people that challenge the norms of what sold before. Acapella is still one of my favourite songs.

I was a teenager when Milkshake dropped…. That video was a blessing from the heavens and made me feel some things.

    7. It’s a shame that her and Pharrel can’t work it out. They clearly both deserve credit for their songs being successful. Ok he has a distinctive production style that people responded to but her songwriting and melodies are also distinctive and original. The combination of them together was fantastic. And she should’ve been paid more of the royalties to reflect that. The number of amazing artists who sold a significant number of records at that time and were on tv shows and music videos but were living in just above poverty status is wild. The record industry has always been exploitative especially for women.

I love Kelis. I always have. I always will. Number 1. Because she was an integral part of my formative years; musically but also, everything she has done outside of music! Why doesn’t Kelis get more love?! Chef, presenter??? Cmon

    9. Kelis is so fiercely original. If you only know her for “Milkshake”, check out her debut song, “[Caught Out There](https://youtu.be/N3JFwd1bk4Q)”. The chorus is literally Kelis yelling:

      >I hate you so much right now!

      >I hate you so much right now!

      >AAAAAAAAAAH!

And somehow, it manages to be extremely catchy.

Kelis’ Insta – like Kelis – is pure, smart joy.

One of my favourite celeb accounts.

Loving her account of relocating to Kenya.

Also been fortunate to see her perform twice and each time was pure bliss.

    11. Didn’t she re-record Milkshake for the Gap ad? If so, hope she is getting a bag from it. She’s had a rough past few years so it is really great to see her looking amazing and living her best life.

    12. Every time I have a milkshake I’ll crack a joke about checking the yard for boys. My son loves milkshakes and he hates these jokes
