Amanda Seyfried explains what made Mean Girls so special
Amanda Ciphert recently hit the green carpet of the 2025 Zurich Film Festival to promote her new movie, The Testament of Anne Lee. But the screening happened to fall on October 3rd, known to many of Amanda’s fans as Mean Girls Day, referring to the 2004 cult classic comedy that was her big screen debut. A number of folks showed up at the Swiss event to celebrate the moment with her. And in this exclusive interview, Ciphford reflects on the legacy of the film. It just means that the movie is just it’s held up. It’s classic. It’s timeless. Mean Girls made people feel less alone. It really reflects an adolescent girl and how we treat each other at that age and and the things that happen in in adolescence. It’s um it’s traumatic. You know, we can’t ever ever underestimate the power of what being a teenage girl is like. So, you know, Tina Fay and Rosalyn Wisman, who wrote the book, really were on to something. And it’s funny and I love it. I just it was my first role on film and I had fun and I love talking about it. I love people who love it. You know, I saw a few burn books today and I was like, “Okay, it’s 22 years later and um I think that’s a testament to just a good movie.” To see more of Amanda as her career continues to flourish, be sure to check out The Testament of Anne Lee when it hits cinemas this Christmas.
