      Sir, 260k/YEAR is usually considered slightly upper middle class in most places in the US outside of major US cities like SF, LA, or NYC, etc. Take several seats.

      Well he’s a dickhead for letting his registration lapse. As is anyone who is a registered HCP. Even if you change jobs keep your dam registration and do the CPD needed and pick up the odd casual shift so you can keep it.

      The only money he should be asking for her perhaps then is for her to pay for his recertification studies.

      Why tf would he let his license expire? Even if you’re not actively using it, you should maintain your professional license for situations exactly like this one. Who knows when you’ll need/want to use it again? It’s way easier to maintain a license than to reinstate one. But that’s his own damn fault, what a stupid decision.

      He can’t work because he willingly let his license expire and now he just wants to continue living of Sia’s income? I feel like if he’s granted spousal support, it should be on the basis that he’s *actively* working towards reinstating his license so he can actually work again.

      Also, why should she have to pay another 500K to “level the playing field” in the divorce? So she should pay for a good lawyer to work against her? That seems so ridiculous, lol.

      We do only have his perspective but I’m sympathetic to his situation. If he did give up his career to be a husband then he should get spousal support. He is asking for an obscene amount of money though. How long does he want the temporary support? I assumed he wanted it for the duration of his retraining which sounds like it’s at least 3 years, and in that case he’s asking for at least $9.36 million.

      Also depending on where the divorce case is litigated, he might be legally entitled to half of her earnings during their marriage.
