Diane Keaton’s Friend Details Final Weeks Before Her Death

Carol Bayer Sager is giving insight into the final weeks of friend Diane Keaton’s life. In an interview with People published October 12th, the songwriter details how the Oscar winner had spent much of 2025 away from her Los Angeles home due to the aftermath of the deadly wildfires in January. Explaining she had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside and they had to clean everything. She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost. Carol, who worked alongside Diane on her only single, First Christmas last year, then shares the final time she saw her friend, noticing that the actress’s health hadn’t seemed to have improved, saying, “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin. She had lost so much weight.” However, Carol says Diane, who passed away October 11th at the age of 79, didn’t seem to be letting her failing health get her down. Telling the outlet, “She was a magic light for everyone. I just loved her. She was so special. She just lit up a room with her energy. She was happy and upbeat and taking photographs of everything she saw. She was completely creative. She never stopped creating. [Music]
