Savannah Guthrie Shares Why Her Kids Are Not Allowed to Have Phones | E! News

I think more than ever, you know, talking about how we’re feeling and where where we are with our mental health is really important. You know, it’s like we’re in this time where we feel like we’re more connected and we have more information. And in some ways, that’s great. And in other ways, we feel more alone, more isolated, more overwhelmed, more discouraged. So, a night like this and anything that raises that uh ability to talk to one another and be open about it is really important. My conversation about social media is no. And my conversation about a smartphone is no. My kids are eight and 11. But of course, they want all of that stuff. And I I just want to hold off as long as possible for that. Um, but we do talk about our feelings, you know, and um I’m sure I read this in an article and stole it from somebody, but I think it’s really true. I I say all feelings are welcome. All behavior is not, but all feelings are welcome. you know, you can always share how you’re feeling in this house. We’re not afraid of feelings. But, you know, the the tonight’s theme is, you know, here comes the sun. And I I actually love that metaphor. I tell my kids all the time, you know, no matter how you’re feeling, these moods come and you feel sad. It feels it’s like a weather system coming in and it’s like a storm and it takes up the whole sky. But weather systems come in and they go. And I think that’s a reminder for anyone who’s struggling right now with mental health issues.

‘Today Show’ host Savannah Guthrie explained in an exclusive interview with E! News at the World Mental Health Day Gala why she has decided not to allow her kids Vale, 11, and Charley, 8, to have phones or social media.
