Charlie Hunnam Recalls Having to Lose 30 Pounds in 3 Weeks For ‘Monster’ Role #charliehunnam
You had to do an extreme physical transformation. Was it 30 lbs that you lost or Yeah, I went from, let me help me do the math. I went from like 185 to 158. So, yeah, like 28 lb. The weight loss was a consequence of starting to do the costume fittings. And I just put the costume on, which is the first time you really arrive at experiencing the character, and I just said, “It doesn’t feel right at all. I’ve just got too much bulk, you know? I just don’t feel right.” So, I had to like very rapidly lose that 30 lbs. uh which I did in about 3 weeks. You know, there were a lot of well, not a lot, but there was a very helpful little catalog of photographs that we put together which informed a little bit. There’s no we weren’t able to find any video footage, but I was able to track down some tapes. He did one interview while he was in custody the night after he was arrested.

They should’ve just told Gein’s story. The influence could’ve been hinted at, but not placed on equal footing. Took me out of moments in the show. This is why Dahmer worked better. Its tone was serious, & real, which for me made it a more interesting, and not just terrifying. Which at the core these stories are.
