Thats exactly why we hire politicians. Because that’s what we are doing, we are hiring them for a job. They aren’t supposed to care who voted for them and who didn’t, they are hired to work for us by taking care of us.
Something that was very hard for me to wrap my head around for a while is how people on the right see politics (and maybe all of life) as a lose / win game, and they use the govt as a way to force their position as winners and us as losers. Ideally, anyone on the left sees politics as a tool to help others. It’s not a vindictive game. We’re all living here, we may as all survive together. A rising tide lifts all ships.
She’s had numerous opportunities to agitate for those things with the squad for years now and she hasn’t done nearly enough. She’s just another careerist politician unfortunately. She was also extremely cagey about calling it a genocide. She’s a coward.
This whole political climate baffles me. And makes me so angry. When did half of the politicians forget that they are elected to take care of the whole country, not just the ones that voted for them?
In every country we need more like AOC. We have Chlöe Swarbrick in New Zealand and need a hundred more like these two principled and talented women.
