I wanna feel bad for him cause his fandom sucks, but at the end of the day, who set that system up?
He made his bed by catering to racist suburban white boys and now he has to lie in it with a bunch of fools who don’t respect his art nor the people who inspire it.

I’m not really into his music mostly because of his lyrics and edgelord-y behavior when he was coming up. Has he addressed that? I recall some really anti black lyrics. I feel like Doja has a similar issue now, with the way she’s attracted a white edgelord fan base and it’s now hard to distance from that.
Don’t come for me, I’m not super into music culture so I could be way off. Correct me if I’m wrong. These are just my observations and why as a Black woman I haven’t personally connected with their music.

He has some really misogynistic and creepy lyrics. The ones about Selena are disturbing

This is the guy who has a lyric ‘tell Spike Lee he’s a god damn n****r’ btw. From the same album as the Badu collab.

i will never defend tyler bc the north remembers his antics pre flower boy era. his “deep” appreciation of black music/art is only recent! he literally hated the rapper label and wanted to distance himself from rap artists LOL. in 2014, he said he didn’t want his named mentioned with other rappers and instead wanted his named mentioned alongside wes anderson and tarantino. he wanted to be different so bad.
also, he fostered his awful ass fanbase with his misogyny, weird ass lyrics, anti-blackness and more. it’s always fuck tyler idc

If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. He should’ve been doing more far sooner to distance himself from these types of “fans.”

I know a lot of rappers are like deeply misogynistic and say all kinds of terrible things about women, but his lyric “rape a pregnant bitch and tell my friends I had a threesome” disturbed me on such a deep level that I’ve never listened to him because of it.
… but yeah, he definitely cultivated this fanbase of his. Reap what you sow!
