Why Jessica Simpson’s Next Chapter Feels Like a “Resurrection” | E! News

We are in the Sims Renaissance. I mean, it’s really amazing. Like, I feel like at 45, I’m born again. Like, it’s like a resurrection of like everything entertainment for me. And it’s so nice. Like, I it was a 15-year break. It felt very long. Like, I didn’t want it to be that long, but then I had another kid. And it was like, okay, I’m going to continue to be a mom and just grow the brand, grow the Jessica Simpson collection as much as possible. And then now I’m like in this world of entertainment. Like I got this call to do All’s Fair and I’m like, “Wait, Ryan Murphy wants me for this? Are you serious?” Like, like I have to cry. Oh gosh. Okay. Um like it’s not funny. And I’m used to getting like funny comedic dumb blonde roles, but this is like very opposite of anything that I’ve ever done. My character is very vulnerable. She has to get really emotional. I had to cry. crying through some emotional pain. I think it helped because I was in four hours of prosthetics, so I didn’t even feel like myself. I could really take on the character. And then I had people like Naomi Watts and Kim Kardashian and Ni Nash and like everybody had this quiet confidence about them that really just dropped me into the scene where I could listen and just really be the character. It was great. It was an amazing experience. like I I’m craving doing it again. Your album was so cathartic and healing. What was the most healing part of that? Writing the music was incredible. Um I was going through a really hard time in my life and to just journal it and turn it into a melody. It it made it so healing for me and it made pain so powerful and um it really gave purpose to why I was going through what I was going through and um yeah it just was rising above all of the all of the stuff that you didn’t expect. Your kids have some musical abilities. We saw your daughter dress up as you for school spirit week which I love. Okay, I have to know whose idea was that? Hers. It was her idea. Did she surprise you? Yes, it it surprised me. I didn’t even know I had that old concert tea and um she found it and like I have like vintage tees and of course it’s vintage cuz it’s been that long. Yeah, Birdie definitely has that has that in her. Um, she’s been like on YouTube finding old concert videos and all this stuff and like is looking at me on the couch and then looking at me and then she’s like figuring it out and she’s like but she already before like watching me on YouTube and stuff was dancing and singing her way through life. So she just innately has it. So awesome. So if she wants to pursue music or get into this industry, are you going to help? I think she’s ready now. She’s six. Okay, let’s get it, mama. We need a little duet in the studio right now, but she could definitely be on a Ryan Murphy show. I’ll tell you that. [Music] [Music]
