Bill Nye speaks on Gaza while at the No Kings Day protest in D.C.: “There’s something wrong when you have one country ruining, leveling another country. No matter what started it.”

Appreciate what he has to say but always bittersweet to see these people with such influence say the right things much too late

Nb4: “he’s both sidesing it”, Israel wouldn’t have been able to carry out decades of systematic oppression if Britain and the US hadn’t gotten involved.

tbh I think this is a very weak answer after two years (and counting) of genocide. At least name which country is doing the ruining and leveling and who’s being leveled. I also don’t really understand what he was saying about religion at the end, the idea that this is a religious conflict has sort of been used as a propaganda talking point so that needs more explanation instead of vague allusions.

This is a fine statement, though the “no matter who started it” bit is irritating. Israel started it, 7 and a half decades ago.

Why are they always so afraid to actually get into it and understand it better? He watched this “fighting” for probably 3 times as long as me and he didn’t even try to understand what it was about?
The first time I saw a settler throwing a Palestinian out of their home I was disgusted and wanted to find out how this injustice was allowed.

I’m not a fan of him trying to land a soft blow with the whole “not an expert, no matter which side, etc”, but if you really listen to him, you get his message. He’s anti-genocide. Plain and simple. Stay weird and cool, Bill Nye.
