Keke Palmer introduces her network’s first scripted show. “Southern Fried Rice” is a coming-of-age show about an Asian-American girl, Coco Jackson, raised by a Black-American family, and her experience going to an HBCU.

They’re eating her up on Twitter cause she said she created this network because of a lack of opportunity and leading roles for black actresses in the industry and yet she made the star of her first show be an Asian girl
This kinda reminds me of “Fakin’ Da Funk” with Pam Grier & Dante Basco (aka voice of Prince Zuko)
That name is diabolical 😭😭😭
We will not be watching.
It is weird that we keep creating opportunities, yet these other groups do not do the same for us. First Timberland, now this.
And no, there is no long standing partnership between the Asian / black American community.

I’d watch this. There is a connection between our cultures, i think it would be cool to explore. I was watching this and like “okay this Asian woman is also Black, but not Black.” My bestie for life is Cantonese so we will def be watching this together.
