The dance pro writes on her Tik Tok video in August of 2022, “My name is Cheryl, but my legal name until I forced my parents to change it was Stephanie.” The choreographer continues the reveal in the comment section, adding that Stephanie was given to her by my late father, Steven Burke, who died in March of 2018. Meanwhile, Cheryl, which was her legal name, is a nod to her mom, Sher Burke. And while she’s proud that her identity is tied to her loved ones, the former dance mom’s host, notes that she switched around her name due to a negative childhood experience.
