Bernie Sanders defends Donald Trump’s border policies: “If you don’t have any borders, you don’t have a nation.Trump did a better job. I don’t like Trump, but we should have a secure border. It ain’t that hard to do. Biden didn’t do it.”

Many people forget this has been Bernies position for decades. His view is that illegal labor is a tool used by the billionaires to exploit the cheap wages and undercut American workers. If you’re confused by this, it’s probably because you’re thinking of Bernie 2020. Because by that point, he had made a radical shift leftwards in terms of immigration policy. No human is illegal, borders don’t exist, all that. And he kept this up until 2024, arguing that the Biden administration was bring cruel towards illegal immigrants.

But now that Trump is in and has made it “acceptable” to be on the opposing side of illegal immigration, now Bernie is back to his roots.

    2. That’s not unexpected from him. He’s never been all that progressive when it comes to the border.

    3. This is who Bernie has always been. I can’t believe the Bernie bros dominated Reddit. Bernie not mentioning anything about Republicans inhibiting meaningful border security. How shameful. Just shameful. What a hack.

    4. seems like Bernie has sold out and lost his spine. very disappointed in some of his recent comments

    5. So, first he hand waves away that one guys Nazi tattoo, and now he’s complimenting Trump? Damn. Bernie is speed running his downfall.

    6. This is why we can’t idolize politicians. What a trashy take from Bernie. He’s been such a disappointment this past year.

    7. He’s always low-key supporting that man. I don’t understand how he has so many supporters hes fake.

    8. Bernie has always had an unfortunate blind spot or support for American imperialist foreign policies.

    9. At this point. I’m sick of everyone. Not a single politician is worth shit. They almost always betray the working class.

I know Bernie probably has different reasons for agreeing about a tight border but saying this when ICE is actively cracking down on regular Americans is a piss poor take. And I’m also sick of the left finding ways to compliment the people that wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire. Tighten up.

    10. Tired of these old men never retiring. Bernie is better than most, but it seems he’s starting to slip.

I’m going to need him to break down how Trump made the border “secure.” Anyone who “hands it to Trump” for his border policy has the blood of the people who will die this winter trying to get into Canada for safety – just like his last term. They have the blood and trauma of every person being racially profiled, locked in concentration camps, raped, abused, murdered by the United States government. I hope Bernie Sanders can sleep with that on his conscience.

What’s that Batman quote, you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain?

I guess there’s a reason there should be a cut off age for politicians.

Lmao of course. Getting closer than ever to (⚪) “progressive” people finally fully acknowledging what kind of person Bernie Sanders actully is. Hopefully lol.

    14. Ok so they’re ALL cool with selling out the American public to this pedophile. Cool cool cool

    15. this is the biggest problem from democrats. Not having a sane indepedent immigration policy will scuttle them in every elections.

To people who disagree: what is your specific objection to this? “We should have a border” isn’t exactly the spiciest take I’ve ever heard.

There’s a way to do things though, and the way that Trump is securing the border is not the right way.

    18. This is why I hate the Bernie revisionist history. He has a lot of good policy ideas, but he had major polling issues with women and communities of color. You can see why.

    19. So on November 9, 2016 Bernie Sanders was the most popular “Democrat” in the country, maybe the most popular politician period.

He then officially joined the Democratic Party and built an unstoppable coalition to have a real left alternative to yeah like fuck he did, he put his thumb up his ass for four years and then pissed away his lead to noted political genius Joe Biden. Absolute oxygen thief.

Speaking as a Minnesotan who’s state Kristi Noem is visiting right now, no Bernie, we don’t need to give Trump anything.

    21. This is frustrating because Trump doesn’t have a sustainable border policy. I’ve seen no legislation. The one bit of legislation that could’ve helped was **shot down by Trump!**

Trump is only informed by greed and hatred. He doesn’t any commendation.

It’s unfortunate but unsurprising. He’s always been a leftist/progressive heatsink for the dems who are for the repugs.

    23. We do not have to attempt to balance his good acts with his bad when his bad acts are so numerous
