Nelly Furtado Announces Indefinite Hiatus from Performing
Nelly Fertado is making a big announcement. On October 24th, the singer shares to Instagram that after 25 years in the music business, she is taking a break from performing music quote for the foreseeable future. Writing in a statement, 25 years later, my music has reached a whole new generation of fans and I couldn’t be happier about that. In the year 2000, I remember feeling purpose and hoping some kid would dust off the Wo Nelly vinyl one day in a record shop. They think it was cool or inspiring. So, I never could have guessed that there would be so many new ways to discover old music in 2025. And Nelly, who released her first album in seven years titled Seven back in 2024, goes on to say how even though it’s been quote surreal, having people fall in love with her music decades later, she still feels like this is the time to step away, adding, I have decided to step away from performance for the foreseeable future and pursue other creative and personal endeavors that I feel would better suit this next phase of my life. The 46-year-old ends her message with, “I’m grateful for all the years of fun, community, and wonder. Endless gratitude to anyone who has ever listened and vibrated with my music and attended any of my shows. I love you and your open hearts. [Music]
