Diane von Fürstenberg Marks 50 Years With Husband After His Coming Out | E! News
Diane von Ferenberg is celebrating her love story after her husband Barry Diller came out as gay. The couple wed in 2001, but their romantic history dates back much further. On Instagram October 26th, the 78-year-old writes, “Today is the 50th anniversary of the Big Bang, the day Barry and I fell in love. He opened the door of his heart and never closed it. The first day of a long, colorful, happy journey. Unconditional love. Thank you, BP.” Speaking on his sexuality to CBS Sunday Morning in May, Barry says, “And at age 16, you had your first sexual encounter. Did you tell your friends? Did you tell anybody about it?” Of course not. You I didn’t tell myself. I mean, I thought, “Oh, what did I think?” I thought, “Oh, I did that. I don’t have to do it again. It was okay. I did this thing with a guy, but that’s a guy. Yeah, I don’t need to do that again.” And then a month later, I did did it again. And then I knew. And regarding his marriage to Diane, in an excerpt from his memoir, Who Knew? published by New York Magazine May 6th, he says, “Yes, I also liked guys, but that was not a conflict with my love for Diane.
