Yo, where’s my fellow Ben Whishaw stans at! (I discovered from my previous post that there are WAY too many of you on this sub lol). Come see this. 🙈

    There’s one more sub-genre too.

    • Protagonist in a biographical show who fights the establishment/system – A Very English Scandal and This Is Going To Hurt.

Ben Whishaw stans aside, let’s all discuss our favorite actors’ weirdly specific sub-genres. Who else fits into their own cinematic niches?

Love him so much amazing actor being a big Paddington fan. Not a sub-genre, but he’s amazing in Shakespeare plays. Best Richard II ever! in The Hollow Crown (got me into Shakespeare) and my favourite portrayal of Brutus in Julius Caesar.

It’s not really that niche. It’s a role as old as time – the gay coded sidekick. (BTW, If you’re a Ben Whishaw fan, you need to check Peter Hujar’s Day, where Ben delivers one of the best performances of the year)

    3. I enjoyed him in the Bond movies (only seen skyfall and spectre). I hope hes back for the next one though he said hes not expecting it

sorta falling into naive spot (no Hugh Grant, sorry) if yall haven’t, check out Women Talking. Great film, very dialogue heavy and the performances are amazing.

    5. I love him so much!! I was crushed when The Hour was cancelled back in the day. He also briefly appears in Years & Years’ MV for Real, which is a fun fact.
