Sydney Sweeney bares all in sparkling sheer silver dress for most daring red carpet look to date

[Applause] And Sydney over the shoulder. And Sydney to your right. And that gorgeous. And Sydney, look as you walk this way. And as you walk, Sydney. And over that shoulder. Sydney, look as you walk. Sydney. Over your shoulder. Over the shoulder. Sydney. [Music] Sydney over the shouldery. Jamie, just turn your body over the shoulder. It’s okay. I understand. [Music] Hey, hold on one second. And they’re playing aware. Thank you. And together right here, [Music] ladies. [Music] Come on now. So bad. She’s presenting. Yes. I was like dirty. Tonight is about celebrating the power of women. the power to rise, to fight, and to keep believing in yourself even when no one else does. And as much as I am incredibly honored to be recognized as one of these women, um there’s someone way more important and special than me that I would like to dedicate this to. Uh she is a woman who not only redefined an entire sport but whose struggles with domestic violence and sexual identity gave a voice to so many who might not have had one. Um she means a lot to me and I’m so happy that she’s here with us tonight. She is a true hero. You are an ultimate underdog, Christy Martin. So, I had the privilege of being able to portray Christ in a film. It’s coming out next week. Um, but it is honestly the most inspiring and meaningful experiences of my entire life. When Christy started boxing, people told her that she didn’t belong in the ring. They told her that she wasn’t allowed to be who she truly was, a gay woman, and the world tried to erase that part of her. But she fought and she fought for respect and for survival and for herself. Christy strength isn’t just in all of her punches, but it’s in her heart. Uh she is a survivor of manipulation, abuse, and violence at the hands of her own husband, who is her trainer. And for 20 years, he told her that he would kill her if she ever left him. And when she finally did try to leave, he nearly did. Christy was shot and stabbed in the chest and left for dead. But what Chrissy did is what most champions do. She got up and she has chosen to tell her story. Um, I’m not a fighter in a ring, but I recognize something of myself and Christy. I know what it feels like to be underestimated, to have people define you before you’ve had a chance to define yourself. I know what it feels like to have to prove that you deserve to be here, to be seen, to be taken seriously. But every one of us has our own fight. And Christy reminds us all that strength doesn’t look loud sometimes, and sometimes it’s just about getting back up again and again, no matter who’s watching. Uh, playing her taught me that surviving isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of reclaiming it. And to every young girl out there, I hope that you know that your power is already within you. You don’t have to wait for permission to be brave. You don’t have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. And if you fall, you can just get right back up. And that’s where your story can begin. So tonight, I want to honor all the women who get back up in big and small ways, in public and in private. And I want to highlight the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence. It’s an incredible organization working to end abuse and empower survivors to rebuild their lives. And as artists, I hope that we keep sharing stories that remind people what real power and strength looks like. Stories that can save lives like Christy’s will. So, thank you so much for this and I hope you guys have a really good night.
