Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl Earns $135 Million in Release Week | E! News

Taylor Swift’s latest album continues to be a hit. According to Billboard, The Life of a Showgirl has earned even more than its first week of sales, with the outlet estimating that the album racked up about $135 million across its record-breaking 4 million units of sales. And while the singer has not addressed the high earnings, she did celebrate the record-breaking sales, comparing it to the 40,000 copies she sold of her self-titled debut album, writing in an October 13th Instagram post, “I was 16 and couldn’t even fathom that that many people would care about my music to invest their time and energy.” Since then, I’ve tried to meet and thank as many people as I could who have given me the chance to chase this insane dream. I have 4 million thank yous I want to send to the fans and four million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was. But when it comes to those who have not received her album as warmly, well, Taylor very pointantly shrugged off the hate during an interview with Zayn Low on October 7th. The rule of show business is if it’s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping. Um, and art. I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions on art. I’m not the art police. It’s like everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want. And what our goal is as entertainers is to be a mirror. Often times an album is a really, really wild way to look at yourself.
