Dave Franco offers up a rare glimpse into his relationship with older brother James Franco. The actor tells Bustel in a new interview what his brother thinks of his huge year, which has included several starring roles, including in films Regretting You and Now You See Me, Now You Don’t. He says of James, “At this point, I think he’s excited just to see me trying new things and to see me grow.” He also credits his brother for helping get his foot in the door in Hollywood, but adds, “No one was going to hire me just because I was James Franco’s little brother. If I sucked, I would have disappeared very quickly.” The brothers starred alongside each other in several projects, including The Disaster Artist and Zerovville. Franco’s career took a hit after 2018 accusations of sexual misconduct by five people, including four former students at the film making and acting school Studio 4, which he co-founded. He later agreed to a $2.2 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by two of his former students. In a 2021 SiriusXM radio interview, James admitted to sleeping with students, saying that at the time he believed the interaction was okay since it was consensual, but acknowledged he now understands the power imbalance inherent in the dynamic.
