Dodgers Manager Addresses Alex Vesia’s “Heartbreaking” World Series Absence

    Alex Via was honored in a touching way at the World Series. During the October 31st game of the Fall Classic, which ended with the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in game seven, several of the Canadian teams players wrote Alex’s jersey number 51 on the side of their hats. A gesture that went a long way with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts with Dave saying per Newsweek, “I didn’t learn that until after the game last night.” And I think it really speaks to the brotherhood of athletes. The show of support for the Dodgers pitcher, who has been absent from the World Series due to a quote personal family matter, was especially impactful on Dave due to the gravity of the situation. For them to acknowledge that, it just speaks to how much respect and love they have for one another.
