I like Lorde and her music, but it’s not like her attendence was manditory at this event.
She could’ve very easily made the donation and not have gone, since it seems very redundant to call the event out while still attending.
This is what conservatives want, low-key. Wreck the safety net and have the vulnerable rely on charity from rich people or the church.
Not criticizing Lorde, it’s a nice sentiment. But it is playing into their vision.
It would be nice if celebrities advocated for less self-congratulatory parties and had the money needed to host these redirected to those in need. It is gross to see rich people throw themselves lavish events while most in the country struggle.
