Chalamet believes it is “bleak” to be childfree and that we are here to procreate. Thoughts? I mean, any biologist I’ve met knows that our “purpose” as humans is much more complex than just procreation, and it could be argued that it our purpose is self preservation above all. This seems very…icky to me.

“I just don’t have anything to say” this would hurt my feelings if my boyfriend said this lol

i just don’t want to believe this is a real quote because that’s such a weird thing to end with

    3. I think he’s much more of a normie than people assume for some reason, and this is kind of a widely held opinion. So I’m not that surprised or outraged. (Even if I don’t agree.)

    4. >But he does believe procreation is the reason we’re here.

Yeah! But it doesn’t end at procreation lil Timmy. The product of such procreation also needs to be nurtured.

    6. Easy sentiment to hold when you’re not the one cranking the baby out of your own body (and probably not doing most of the child rearing, statistically)

    7. I wish society would stop obsessing over whether or not people have kids. Either choice is fine, I get a little annoyed with the narrative that life without children is “bleak”

    8. >fatherhood hangs over…he would like to experience

i mean….i dont know how much time these two actually spend together but by now, normies would at least have some sort of parenting feelings/duties if their long term partner had primary physical custody of their two children…

like do they not hang out with the kids? is she only seeing him when the other parent has them?

and for her…are you not dating someone thinking about how they would be a father to your children?

celebrities confuse me. like..they date people with kids and it always seems like the kids are the afterthought..for both parties

Crazy that this isn’t being picked up more. Would be blasted everywhere and viewed as a right wing talking point if a woman said it.

    10. being childfree and having time for yourself is bleak?

I’m about to be the friend that’s too woke but idk why that rubbed me the wrong way lol maybe bc I’m a woman and know how difficult pregnancy is on our bodies, plus I know most of the responsibility of raising the child will fall on the mother, so when a person (especially a woman!) makes the conscious decision to not have children my first thought is “good for you!” and not “bleak”

I want kids but I totally respect people who are openly child free. I work with kids and it’s a horrible feeling to meet parents who just seem like they had their kids because they felt it was the normal thing to do and don’t seem invested in actually interacting with them. I would much rather people just be honest that they’d prefer doing other things with their lives.

i personally enjoy being able to do what i want when i want and i feel like people should stop dunking on childfree people. because god forbid we say anything about people and their kids. keep the same energy

Any time a man says that having kids is the reason why we’ve been put on this planet 🚩 🚩 🚩

Jfc that last sentence is so pretentious, I can’t tell if that’s more of a reflection on Timothee or the interviewer.

    15. This is just a common sign of immaturity. One of my college roommates said something similar. That we’re technically only here to have children. I told her no. She insisted humans are just animals who are meant to breed. Fast forward and she’s married with 2 dogs she’s obsessed with…. and they’re never having kids. Bc she grew up and realized it’s a choice.

He came across as super unlikeable throughout the whole interview. Not quite Miles Teller eating steak bad but close enough. There’s a fine line between being ambitious and being arrogant, and he came through as high off his own supply. This part of the article is only one example of how offputting it was.

    17. Bright_Piccolo1651 on

What’s bleak is him taking the time out of his day to shit on other people’s choices, especially when those choices have no effect on him lol. 😒

Procreation being the “reason we are here” is the same BS we are being fed by the government in our country who is currently doing everything they can to control women’s bodies, so he can go f**k right off with the rest of them. If having children in his life is so enriching, he would be bending over backwards to spend time with Kylie’s kids and I would bet my life he is more than happy to hand them off to nannies and go play with her, just like the guy that is childless and has a lot of free time.

    19. You’re right Timmy, my life is soooooooo boring with dogs and caring for plants and reading books and weed and more dogs and rewatching Buffy the vampire slayer and literally doing anything that comes to my mind because I can.

I don’t know if his ignorance/privilege is coming from his extreme wealth or just being a man, but I’m *so* sick of it.

    20. Much easier to say stuff like that when you wouldn’t be the one going thru pregnancy and birth.

    21. tangentialneurosis on

Not surprising when he’s been in a long term relationship with someone whose whole family (except Kendall) have a breeding kink.

Seth seems like a much more tolerable person to be around than Timothee, especially factoring in his comments here.

    22. Easy to believe when you’re a millionaire movie star who has all the professional success and spare time you might want

    23. As a childless woman it would be so nice to go ONE DAY without seeing somewhere in media that my entire purpose for existing is my womb
