Tom Berseron gets candid about his shocking Dancing with the Stars firing during a November 10th interview with the Hollywood Reporter. The former host reveals that his 2020 dismissal from the show quote pissed me off. The 70-year-old admits that he didn’t miss a beat when he got the opportunity to share his opinion, saying, “I’ll be honest with you. I did not like the showrunner. He knew that. He continues, “I couldn’t be happier that the people who are running the show now are running the show, but to be honest, the 20th anniversary in other people’s hands would not have lured me back.” He adds, “It was really because Conrad’s there, and you can tell, just look at what the show is doing. It’s having a resurgence. It’s doing things that I can’t imagine many, if any, 20-year-old shows have done.” EN has reached out to ABC for comment and has not yet heard back. Back in 2020, Tom said his departure followed a disagreement over the network’s decision to cast Donald Trump’s former press secretary, Sean Spicer, on season 28. In 2023, Tom revealed on fellow Dancing with the Stars alum, Cheryl Burke’s podcast, Sex Wise, and Spray Tans that he brought concerns around the casting to a few executives, but ultimately they went forward with the decision. Tom shared his reaction, noting, I said, “Guys, this is exactly what we said we wouldn’t do. Don’t go there. This is not the right time. Play to our strength.
