Brie Larson DRAGGED After SUPER MARIO BROS Casting

So, there is now a trailer out for the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie because it was a huge hit, made over a billion dollars. They’re hoping to repeat that with the sequel, the Super Mario Galaxy movie. And they have made a casting announcement. Brie Larson is going to be the voice actress for the character of Roselina. I don’t know much about this canon universe, all the lore, but from what I’ve gathered, this character is the adoptive mother of all of those cute little chubby star characters. So, it’s definitely a movie that’s going to be geared towards kids. And Brie Larson was supposedly selected for this role because she is a super fan for Nintendo and knows all about the character and the lore. And I don’t buy it for a second. I don’t know if I buy that, but she put out this announcement video for her casting with this uh new haircut that she has. She She buzzed her hair off for a movie, so that’s why she looks like Elliot Paige right now. Okay, here we go. Hello everyone. So, I just want to hold this day in our hearts. Today is May 21st. Um, I’m going in here away from everybody so that they no one hears me. But I wanted you to hear from me first that I am going to be I’m hiding inside a war pipe right now. I’m going to be in the next Super Mario movie. It’s called Super Mario Galaxy and I play Roselina. It is an absolute dream come true. I’m sitting here wearing my correct colors and I didn’t have time to color my hair. Sorry I couldn’t go full cosplay this time, but um it’s a dream come true. Um I’m so excited for you to see the movie and I’m just holding it in my heart right now and I can’t wait to share it with you later this year when you’ll find out. But right now, I know nobody else does. Yay. Okay. So, with Brie Larson’s terrible track record when it comes to promoting movies, specifically when she was working for Marvel, people are worried that she is going to be a nightmare on the press tour for this movie and alienate parts of the audience and possibly tank the movie. Grace Randolph is actually one of the people who believes this is terrible casting. She said, “If anything can tank the new Super Mario Bros. movie, it’s Brie Larson.” and she elaborated after getting a lot of backlash for saying this. Hate channels are a scourge on entertainment and the industry, but this idea that we therefore can’t say anything negative when there’s plenty of evidence to back it up is insane. I just spent all last week defending El Fanning and Predator and got a ton of hate for defending Barbie. Will Super Mario 2 be a huge success? Almost certainly. But Brie Larson has a history of making comments on press tours, etc. that are not helpful and turn off audiences. She was also a big part of reimagining the Marvels, a film which I gave a good review, but that sequel ruined a billiondoll character. Captain Marvel. Yeah. Okay. Captain Marvel is not Captain Marvel is not a billion dollar character. Captain Marvel is a character that just happened to be shoved between two billion dollar movies. It was the most forced character of all of the Marvel characters. That movie doesn’t make a billion dollars unless it’s put between Infinity War and Endgame. I’m sorry. Yeah. Uh, but Brie Larson has been very hush hush when asked if she has a future working for Marvel playing Captain Marvel. I don’t think that’s a sign that, you know, she’s being cheeky and koi and and hinting it at the audiences. She might actually not be in um the next one is Secret Wars, right? No, it’s uh Doomsday. Doomsday is the next one. Sorry. Yeah, she might not actually make an appearance in that movie. And it definitely has something to do with the fact that she is toxic to the audience. Um, you said that her most notorious moment was saying like, “I don’t care if a straight white male didn’t like a wrinkly time. It’s not for you.” Yeah. She was at She wasn’t on an interview circuit there. She was at an award show. She complained um in in an interview that most of the press she did for Marvel was overwhelmingly white and male. I guess she’s referring to the people interviewing her being white and male. Yeah. Why is that even something that you need to bring up? Uh I think Grace Randolph was definitely having a very reasonable middle of the road take on Brie Larson. Like she’s willing to call balls and strikes but that’s not okay. And now, one of the responses said, “How is it nearly 2026 and people still give a single about what Grace Randolph has to say? Her hatred for other women can be seen as just one of the boys and not like the other girls is really weird. James Gun and Kathy Yan were always right. She’s a piece of shit.” And they put up a screenshot of James Gunn back in 2022 saying, “The earth revolves around the sun. Mothers love their children. and Grace Randolph will spout And Kathy Yan said, “Articles like the below uh are written off for uh off of your quote unquote scoops to Grace Randolph.” And that was about Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey and themes of PDF Phileia. I don’t know how else to say that. You could make the comment that perhaps her words could come back to bite her like say a Rachel Zgler, but the difference is Rachel Zgler was denigrating the property that Disney was putting her in charge of. And it doesn’t seem like that will be an issue with Brie Larson. And those comments she made were a very, very long time ago. Super Mario Brothers is a billion-dollar franchise. I don’t see the box office. You first of all, you’re not going to be able to see her physical appearance anyways. It’s just going to be voice acting. like you’re not going to have a bunch of people who are going to see her on screen during a trailer and be like, “Oh, that makes me physically ill.” Uh, I don’t see this affecting the box office. And those comments were so long ago. Like, maybe I’m wrong. May maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am. I I don’t think that this affects the box office because the people that are going to be going to see this movie will be millennial parents bringing their children, right, to go see it. I I don’t think that this the box office for this film gets hurt at all. It may just be my algorithm, but I actually haven’t seen a whole lot of the backlash to relart. I mean, that I didn’t see a ton of it either. Most of it was just people who were kind of laughing at the fact that Grace Randolph, who is normally not someone who’s you’d associate with this type of topic calling this out and saying that it might will it? I don’t know. I don’t personally think so, but somebody can uh bookmark it and tell me if if this movie comes out and it makes $100 million only and people everybody blames Brie Larson. I guess you can you can tell me I’m wrong, but I don’t I think this sequel still makes over a billion dollars. People thought that Chris Pratt getting cast as uh as Mario was going to sink this franchise and it didn’t because he’s a libertarian. Well, they thought he it was going to crash it because he just doesn’t sound like Mario. Cuz he didn’t do the accent. Yeah, maybe they should have had him. The real question, the real question is how will this movie survive without John Leguisamo? Right. Without John Leguisamo to save this movie, how will it how will it make a billion dollars? That tanked the movie. That’s what happens more than anything. I’ve seen more backlash against the backlash. If you if that makes sense. Like the idea that there is this army of misogynist trolls who hate Brie Larson for having a va a vag like the whole backlash against the backlash has been louder in my algorithm. Like this one trying to prove her bonafides. Brie Larson has always been a huge Nintendo nerd. So it’s very nice to know that she gets to voice Roselina in the movie. And this reply said, “Are people hating on her just because she’s a woman or is there an actual reason that I’m not aware?” It’s that Where’s the hate, though? I’ve been looking for the hate. One of the replies said, “It is because she’s a woman.” People like to claim she has an ego when really she’s just joking around with Marvel cast in interviews the same way they all do with each other. But because she was a newcomer and a woman, everyone online made it a big deal. Yeah, that’s that’s the strawest of straw man arguments I’ve ever heard. Someone said she was basically Rachel Zgler before Rachel Zgler. That’s true. Her public persona was basically smug, annoying, performative, self argrandizing politics back in 2018, 2019. Blame her publicist. They were pushing that for all the female talent back then. Yeah. I mean, if she makes the press tour about, you know, women’s empowerment, we can re like we can re-evaluate this discussion and talk about it then. But as of right now, there’s no like I don’t find it um compelling to say that stuff she said in 2019, which prior to co might as well be a lifetime ago, uh that it’s going to affect it. Now, if we were talking about a superhero movie or if we were talking about a Star Wars movie, which she’s been threatening us with for years, uh about doing a Star Wars movie, then we could have that discussion. And I think that there’s a reasonable um belief that the people who are going on their own, maybe not with their kids, but want to go see a superhero movie or a genre sci-fi movie and she’s in it, then I could see it being a problem. But for a kids animated Nintendo movie, I don’t see this being a problem. Neither do I. I do believe that Brie Larson walked so that Rachel Zgler could run. And I think that’s why Rachel Zgler was so bewildered at the reaction to the things she was saying on the Snow White press tour. Like she was like thinking, “This is what all the actresses do. Like why am I getting singled out with all this hate for trashing Snow White when literally all the other female talent have been doing this for the last decade?” It’s just because Rachel Zaggler happened to be pinpointed at the moment when people started changing their opinions about this stuff and how talent ought to behave on press tours. Um, and people are also presenting this interview with Brie Larson to prove her nerd bonafidees. She allegedly broke up with a boyfriend of hers, dumped him because he said that she was taking Nintendo too seriously. I threw my first boyfriend out of my house because I was because I was trying to beat the final level in Super Mario Galaxy. He said that I was taking it too seriously, so I threw him out of my house. I just thought um Okay. I don’t know if I believe that, but okay. You think she’s making it up? I I think that there’s probably more to that. Call me crazy, but I’m guessing that there’s probably more to that story. I need to hear his side of the story. Yeah. Like I’m going to I’m going to need to hear the ev see the evidence. I don’t know what that evidence would be. There better be a a Ring door camera of him leaving, muttering under his breath about how pissed he is. before watching um was it the Marvel’s the last the last Marvel movie that we reviewed was the Marvels, right? Gosh, was it? I think so. Before watching that, I mean, I’ve reviewed Marvel stuff that since then, but the probably the last one we did together was probably that. I watched that in an Alamo Draft House and during the preview section, they were playing a bunch of Brie Larson’s old music videos and I was like, wait, she tried to be like Ashley Simpson light. Yeah, she had a failed music career and that was like totally news to me. If only she went down a different path in life. I’m I’m gonna go ahead and give um I’m giving amnesty to Brie Larson until new comments come about. Like she’s she gets the pass. Like you know, everybody says stupid stuff 5 years ago. If new stuff comes up, then we will we will reput the banhammer down on her. Second chances, d I’m I’m giving her a second chance. You believe in redemption. if she can make it through this press tour without talking about her story or you know women’s suffrage or the handmaid’s tale or or you know you know protecting the 19th or Ro vie Wade or whatever it is that she wants to talk about if she doesn’t have to talk about any of that stuff on this press tour she gets a pass. I will say uh people reacted a little bit too strongly to the first Super Mario Bros. movie saying that Princess Peach was a girl boss. I watched it eventually. I didn’t particularly like the movie because it’s well, it’s not for me. It’s for kids. Yeah. But I didn’t agree with that assessment at all. Like very reasonable take that that Princess Peach was a girl boss. Like that that seemed like a huge reach from the anti-woke crowd. Uh this is why take your W’s when you can. Thanks for watching.
