The cause of death for Jimmy Kimmel’s band leader and friend has been released. Less than a week after he died, Clato Escobido III’s immediate cause of death is revealed to be cardiogenic shock, a condition where the heart is unable to pump enough blood through the body, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ November 14th. Additionally, the document cited vasoddilatory shock or blood vessel dilation and disseminated intravascular coagulation which is blood clotting that blocks blood flow to the organs as underlying causes per the outlet. Alcoholic cerosis was also determined to be a contributing factor to his passing as well as sepsis, graft versus host disease, immunosuppressed chronic kidney disease and pneumonia. According to TMZ, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host announced Cleto’s passing November 11th in a post on social media, writing, “Early this morning, we lost a great friend, father, son, musician, and man, my longtime band leader, Plato Escobido III. To say that we are heartbroken is an understatement.” He added, “Plato and I have been inseparable since I was 9 years old. The fact that we got to work together every day is a dream neither of us could ever have imagined would come true.” Jimmy concluded his heartfelt message with cherish your friends and please keep Plato’s wife, children, and parents in your prayers. So sad that Cleto died. Rest In Peace Cleto Escobedo III, You will be missed. 2025, has been such a sad and underwhelming year, so far. 2026, which is next year will be a little sadder cause, Hulu is going away, and merging into Disney Plus and The Late Show on CBS is going away and ending.
