Ashley Tisdale is revealing why she’s publicly changing her name. As Ashley continues to expand her Frenchy wellness brand, the High School Musical star, who’s married to Christopher French, shares that she’s now going by her marital name professionally. Ashley explains more in her November 17th Instagram video. I’ve been Ashley French for so long at home, but I really never changed publicly cuz everyone knows me as Ashley Tisdale, but I just felt like it was time for people to know me for me and not just a character or like a celebrity. And Ashley, who is a parent to kids Jupiter and Emerson, goes on to share insight into how her relationship with social media is evolving. I just think Instagram has changed a lot. You should be honest, like at this point, you don’t know like what’s real, what’s a bot, and everyone has something to say, and it might not be positive. And not that I want to block out the negativity, but I felt like in order to protect my piece, I didn’t want to keep sharing in that way. But this isn’t the first time that Ashley has talked about her layered relationship with social media. Earlier this year, the artist announces she is taking a break from the online space, writing in a February Instagram story, “As the world is getting loud, I find myself wanting to share less and less. Maybe it’s because I don’t feel I can contribute in a positive way when everything feels so negative.” She adds, “Social media is such a blessing when you want to connect with everyone, but can also be so noisy when used with judgment and assumptions. That’s so stupid! It’s also a sexist tradition and I wonder if her husband would ever take her last name?
Who cares if she wants to go by her married name? Why is that such a problem? If she wants to go by Ashley French then that’s her choice and literally nobody else’s business.
All women should use their husband’s names. That is what being family is about. Women who don’t use their husband’s names are just anticipating a divorce.
