The Family Stone Sequel Is in the Works After Diane Keaton’s Death | E! News

The Family Stone is reuniting. The director and writer behind the holiday classic, Thomas Massucha, reveals he’s working on a sequel to the 2005 film, telling CNN in an interview published November 19th that he’s now even more determined to bring the hilariously dysfunctional family back together following the death of actress Diane Katon, who portrayed matriarch Sibil Stone. going on to add, “I’ve been haunted by the loss of Syibble for months now while I worked on it, and so this was a blow on a tender bruise already. Mentally, I’ve been spending time in that house where I’ve been missing her for a while already.” With the filmmaker saying that after learning of Dian’s passing in October, he hopes to quote, “Honor her even more with the sequel.” explaining that while he’s working on a finalized version of the script, he won’t move forward unless original cast members including Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermit Molrron, Luke Wilson, Rachel Adams, Claire Danes, and Craig Telson are on board. However, Bazucha tells CNN that as of right now, nobody has officially signed on to the sequel, and that Disney, who acquired the rights to the movie from 20th Century Fox in 2019, has yet to greenlight the project.
