CMA Awards 2025: Megan Moroney Reveals How Heartbreak Inspired Her New Music | E! News

The biggest surprise I think would be completing my album and the way that it turned out. I think um the other day I was just kind of zooming out on my all of my art and my music and it’s really cool to see the growth that happens slowly over time. Um and when I zoom out I can really see that like a girl that wrote Girl in the Mirror and Why Johnny Unlucky could have never written some of these songs that are so confident and strong and empowering on this new album. So, um I think that’s been the biggest thing like just finding even more confidence and um the Kenny tour last year that was like around this time definitely upped my confidence on stage. So, still learning, but we out here. I heard he got you a cool birthday gift, little guitar signed by Dolly Parton. No big deal. Yeah, he makes it impossible to It’s already impossible to buy gifts for Kenny, but I’m like I don’t have someone like Dolly just on speed dial that I can call. Um but yeah, that was an amazing present. I just thought he gifted me a vintage Gibson. So, I was like, “Oh my god, I’ve been wanting one of these. Like, thank you so much.” And then he’s like, “Turn it around.” And I my jaw dropped. So, obviously, six nominations. I mean, you come in here with you and uh it’s it’s all ladies leading the pack tonight. Talk about maybe the camaraderie that you have or or at least the the the the new prop of female country artists that are really taking the the genre by storm right now. I think it’s amazing. I mean, both Laney and Ella are incredible. And just to see all of us girls like leading the pack, like you can’t ask for anything better. We’re giving the boys a run for their money, for sure. No doubt about it. Hey, you’ve written so so many of your songs have to do with young dating life and all the all the things that happen, the good, the bad, the ugly. Who or what is inspiring you to write these days? Well, the album’s done, so I don’t have to answer that question. I actually I’m I’m taking a little break from writing just because I’m so excited about this new music. But um it’s really I literally write about my real life and so uh there will definitely be songs on the album where you’re like trying to put the pieces together. Put the pieces together. We’re talking heartbreak. Are we talking love? A little bit of both. Why not both? Why not both? Both. Holidays coming up. What are you going to be doing? Ooh, I’m taking my family to the beach. Oh, really? Yep. Down to the islands. Okay, nice. Whole crew? Yeah, whole crew. You’re hosting. I’m hosting. Are you the cook? No, I I bring the vibes. So, if everyone’s not, you know, like I’m You’re the vibe. I’m on aux. I’m the vibe bringinger. I pour the drinks. Okay. Okay. Bartender. Make sure everyone’s happy. I Yeah. [Music]
