Olivia Nuzzi breaks down in candid interview about RFK Jr. affair
Embattled political journalist Olivia Nuni allegedly compared Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to fictional boxer Rocky Balboa while giving him fashion advice during the 2024 presidential campaign. Nunie allegedly made the comment in a strategy memo for RFK Jr. which was published by her former fiance Ryan Liza via his Telos News Substack. Liza described his ex’s actions as having crossed the line from journalist to political operative during her emotional affair with the now health and human services secretary. Nun’s memo was reportedly written ahead of the June 2024 debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, which RFK Jr. had been blocked from due to his poor polling numbers. She offered up some wardrobe advice for him, writing, “Not to be all Naomi Wolf advising Al Gore, but I would wear a blue, unlike Gore, you are a summer suit and your standard thin tie, so that those clips achieve the same thing aesthetically that your actual presence at the debate would achieve in terms of signaling both plausibility and a contrast.” Nudie then explained that the takeaway should be that RFK Jr. is more like Rocky, while the other candidates are Rocky and Bullwinkle. She wrapped up the memo by expressing her love and support for him, writing, “You are the best candidate, and the people who already know that came to that belief because they respect you and your ideas.” She wrote, “Focus on your ideas. Just as you know what’s best for the country, you know best what you should do on your campaign, and whatever you decide, you’ll be great. I love you,” she concluded with a heart and kissing lips emoji. Liza exposed the alleged memo a day after Nun’s controversial memoir, American Kanto, debuted to scathing reviews, with one critic dubbing the tome a tell nothing memoir. According to its official description, the book is a mesmerizing firsthand account of the warping of American reality over the past decade as Donald Trump has risen to dominance from a participatory witness who got so far inside the distortion field that it swallowed her whole. The New York Times headlined their review, Olivia Nunie’s memoir is self-s serious and altogether disappointing. While the Washington Post called the book highly uneven and largely forgettable. In a tense on camera interview with the Bulwork on December 2nd, Nunie broke down in tears after Bowwork host Tim Miller pressed her on why she didn’t share information she knew about Kennedy during his brutal confirmation process and whether she was in love with the 71-year-old former presidential candidate. You know, I was terrified of um the man I did not marry and I was very worried about people knowing where I was and um I’m sorry. Can we pause this? Okay. Yeah, I’m sorry. Yeah, we can pause it. As for her current job, rumors are swirling that she’s going to be out at Vanity Fair, but sources say no decision has yet been made on her fate. One source told Page 6, “It looks like they are getting rid of her.” while another said, “I will not be surprised if they drop Olivia.” Another source sniffed, “Even before this broke, she didn’t have a single story in the next two issues of the magazine. She never picked up her Condidas computer, never came to a meeting, never responded to an email she was CCd on. We hear Nun’s alleged exit is unlikely to have any effect on the magazine.” Another source tells us Ni’s role was always going to be a vanity title, no pun intended. She was never going to be an actual editor, says another source. it was going to be all about her looking glam at the Oscars party. We further hear that staff are embarrassed and want Nuni off the mast head. Everyone wants her out with the possible exception of Mark Jaduchcci, says the source. Everyone is constantly texting about how embarrassing this is. Nuni exited New York magazine after her alleged sexing scandal with Kennedy came to light and she was brought on as West Coast editor of Vanity Fair in September. New photos obtained by Page 6 show the Vanity Fair editor on a hike in Los Angeles looking solemn as she enjoyed the outdoors. After complaining about being followed by the paparazzi that same day in response to the scathing reviews of her memoir, Nuni took to Instagram sharing a list under a post titled Signs Your Book Rollout has gone arry which included bullets about the paparazzi following her.
