Jeremy Allen White reveals Bruce Springsteen texted him ‘every night’ while filming

Why do you think this movie and making a movie about such a cultural icon is so important right now in these times? Well, uh, finding a cultural icon is rarer and rare these days, right? We’re living in a world filled with noise and confusion and anger and hate. And I personally think Bruce Springsteen represents the best of us. And anytime you can celebrate someone who’s given so much not only to Americans from people all over the world who does it so selflessly, that’s really the definition of cultural identity. And I think Bruce Springsteen is the best of who we are. Yeah. I believe someone to to look to in in real moments of doubt. You know, they’re morally sound and and just um uh you know, you believe them because of their honesty. Um you know, uh I think it’s It’s important to to look to those people. Um, and that’s that’s when you found out that you got the role, did you I mean, obviously you were really happy, but was part of you like, I’m going to throw up or I might like soil myself. Yeah, of course. Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, I took, you know, I I had met with Scott and I was really excited about the idea of of working with him before I even, you know, knew anything about this film and I’d been an admirer of Bruce’s for a long time. It was all very exciting, but I wanted to make sure that I was the the person for the job and and I had to I had to consider it, you know. Absolutely. Yeah. Right. Did you cry a little bit before first night of filming? I think I cried almost every night, I’m sure. Yeah. I mean, it was it was a tremendous amount of uh of pressure, but Bruce Bruce carried me through. I mean, Scott, Bruce, but Bruce texted me almost every night and he was on set very often. Um and uh and I think uh without that sort of support uh and those texts in the evening um I certainly would have been uh you know crying a lot more at the end. That’s so cool that he texted you. That’s wild. I love it. All right. Thanks so much. Thank you.
