Why George Clooney Won’t Be “Kissing a Girl Anymore” Onscreen | E! News

George Clooney says he’s done with PDA on the big screen. In a December 12th Daily Mail interview, the actor reveals that in the next phase of his career, he’s ruling out roles that require on-screen kissing. The 64year-old admits, “I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did. Okay, well, I’m not kissing a girl anymore.” The Oscar winner says the realization came after a conversation he had with his wife of over 11 years Amal Clooney with whom he shares 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander. Recalling the moment he explains, “When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, “Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25year-old guys. I can still hang. I’m in shape. But in 25 years, I’m 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat. That’s a real number. And while George is retiring from this part of his career, he has no plans of stepping back from acting altogether. Back on December 2nd, he told USA Today, “If you give up working, you lose your place in society. There’s going to be parts for Grandpa Gums Bread, and I’ll be the perfect guy for it.” That’s a good thing about the profession that I’ve chosen. [Music]
