Why Reba McEntire’s Fiancé Rex Linn Had to Scrap Initial Proposal Plan | E! News

I was done looking for another spot. I thought, “Yeah, you know what? I’ll just I’ll back off.” Reba McIntyre’s fianceé, Rex Lynn, tells a truly wild story about his marriage proposal plans. During a joint interview on the Drew Barrymore Show December 11th, Rex and his bride to be the Queen of Country, tested their knowledge of each other by playing the Loveirds Challenge. And when they both correctly guessed their ultimate travel destination, Africa, Rex told a funny story about how he almost proposed on the continent back in June 2024. He told Drew, “When we went to Africa, I took the ring with me.” But when he thought he found the perfect spot amid their trip to pop the question, the couple’s tour guide said, “Slow down.” With a cool southern draw, just like his lady love, Rex recalled, he goes, “Well, brother, that’s a sort of a evening migratory walkway for some male leopards. It wouldn’t be a good good time.” And while Rex’s plan for a moonlit proposal in their dream destination didn’t come to fruition, the year didn’t end without Reeba’s guy popping the question, which ultimately happened during a walk on the pair’s Tennessee ranch Christmas Eve 2024. And back in September, Reeba and Rex confirmed their engagement to ENews at the 77th Prime Time Emmy Awards. Rex Linn told host Drew Barrymore during a joint interview with Reba McEntire on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ Dec. 11 that he was originally planning on proposing to his ‘Happy’s Place’ costar during a vacation in Africa. As the 69-year-old recalled, he told their guide that he was thinking about proposing to the country singer, but hadn’t “found a place yet.” Unfortunately, as their guide explained, the area was probably not the best choice for a proposal. “He just looks at me,” Rex recounted, “and goes, ‘Well, brother, that’s sort of an evening migratory walkway for male leopards. It wouldn’t be a good time.’” And as Reba—who was previously married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and to Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015—explained, she and Rex are very much looking forward to their upcoming nuptials. “It’ll be a lot of fun,” she shared with E! News in November. “It’s gonna be a nontraditional wedding because that’s Rex and me.
