NASCAR legend Greg Biffle has died. Congressman Richard Hudson of North Carolina confirming the 55-year-old and his wife Christina, along with Greg’s two children, 14-year-old Emma and 5-year-old son Ryder, were among [music] the six people who died December 18th in a plane crash near Charlotte, North Carolina. Congressman Hudson writing on X, I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Christina, and their children, and my heart is with all who love them. They were friends who lived their lives focused on helping others. Greg was a great NASCAR champion who thrilled millions of fans, [music] but he was an extraordinary person as well and will be remembered for his service to others as much as for his fearlessness on the track. He continues adding, “The Biffles flew hundreds of rescue missions in western North Carolina after Hurricane Helen. The last time I spoke with Christina just a couple of weeks ago, she reached out to ask how she could help with relief [music] efforts in Jamaica. That’s who the Biffles were. Our prayers are with their family, friends, and everyone grieving this unimaginable loss. The Federal Aviation Administration confirming to local NBC affiliate WCNC Charlotte that the Biffl family were traveling together in a Cessna C550. [music] Greg was leasing to a neighboring state, but their plane never made it. Records showed that the plane took off in North Carolina at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time, but circled back to that same [music] airport 20 minutes later. Authorities are investigating what exactly happened [music] that made the plane turn around and eventually crash, but local weather reports indicate the weather around the airport at the time of the incident was quote adverse with heavy rains. Greg, also known as the Biff, began his NASCAR career in 1995, winning 19 cup series races from 2003 to 2016. [music] He was one of three drivers to ever win a racing championship in both the Bush Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. Greg Biffle was 55.
