    1. The name of the book is offer from a gentleman, that’s his offer and it’s because he believes it’s the only option he has so that he won’t cause trouble for his family. It’s very much of the time it’s sounds so insulting in today’s world because it is but it has a different meaning back then.

    2. I quiet enjoy it tbh, cuz is it not a tradition of the bridgerton's men to do something stupid towards the lady they pursue? 😂 just like how anthony brought the wrong sister to the altar and how colin basically friendzoned pen her whole life. This time, its benedict's time to be stupid, just leave him alone lol he'll figure it out 😂😂

    3. It’s cool that in the show he has like three different women trying to educate him about the precarious nature of his power dynamic with Sophie but he’s just genuinely enough of a good-hearted dingus that it doesn’t really register. That’s a different character than Book Benedict.

    4. I read the book first (loved it) so I knew this was coming and it still shocked me. In the 4 episodes the subject of a mistress is brought up 4 separate times and it’s been drilled into his head about reputations and accepted roles. He isn’t confident he can break any of that. I honestly think he needs Anthony back. Needs his “anchor person” who may understand the assignment and give Benedict the “permission” to actively pursue and engage to marry a woman who society might deem improper. MVP in the books is Mama Violet but I hope (for the show) it’s Anthony.

    5. It felt out of left field initially cause we just never seen Benedict care so much about labels and societal norms in the past and he has had girlfriends like that blonde artist in season 3.

But with Sophie I think he feels he wants to spend his life with her but everyone got it hammered into his head that shes a maid you cant marry her. And then you got the scene in gentlemens club where his friend basically says that marriage is a buisiness but mistresses is where the love is.

And all of that just sends Benedict down the absolute wrong train of thought. And yes i know Colin and Anthony married for love but Kate and Penelope were both from high ranking society houses so its not as complicated as Benedict.

    6. Benedict believes that was his only option given the social norms and the rigid hierarchical system of the regency era Brittain
