Amy Earnhardt made sure Jessica Simpson knew the boy was hers. The wife of Dale Earnhardt Jr. alleged the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer had her sights set on the now-retired race car driver, recalling a run-in she almost had with Jessica in the late aughts during the early days of her and Dale’s romance. “It’s 2008, maybe [2009],” Amy said on a recent episode of their ‘Bless Your ‘Hardt’ podcast. “We had just started dating. I think I’m still living in Jacksonville, but I come up to Daytona to hang out with Dale. And I hear that Jessica Simpson’s at the racetrack.” The 43-year-old explained she’d always been a fan of Jessica’s as they were around the same age and both hailed from Texas. “I’m like, ‘Hey, Dale, do you think you can get Jessica Simpson to come to the bus so I can meet her?’” Amy said. “He’s like, ‘I don’t think that would be a really good idea.’” When she questioned “why not,” she was shown a clip from an interview Jessica had done earlier that day during which Jessica shared a dream she’d had in which she and Dale were married in a treehouse. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, don’t bring that b—h over here,’” Amy joked. “‘It’s a good idea.’” E!
