Eric Dane received support from Johnny Depp amid his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Following the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star’s tragic death on Feb. 19, E! News has learned that Johnny stepped in to help, offering Eric a place to stay at one of his Los Angeles homes. Eric’s former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ costar Patrick Dempsey shared in a Feb. 20 interview with ‘Virgin Radio UK’ that, “He was really starting to lose his ability to speak, he was bed-ridden and it was very hard for him to swallow. The quality of his life was deteriorating so rapidly.” Eric had the support of his ex Rebecca Gayheart—with whom he remained extremely close following their 2017 separation—as well as his daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14. He (Eric Dane) either recently learned of his illness and deteriorated quickly or he had it long before he publicly disclosed it. Either way, his death was surprising and tragic, especially considering he was so young.
