  1. He said a dumb thing. And it was pretty ignorant. But it's also the exact thing a young guy sitting next to the Alright, Alright, Alright Guy, and trying to be cool would say. Give him some slack. And yes, movies are generally considered more universally popular and less elitist than ballet and opera. Not better. Just a wider audience. And if that's the audience he feels more comfortable with, that's ok.

  2. This is simply another confused celebrity who believes that because he’s becoming famous, his thoughts on a subject are important, when in fact, they really aren’t.

  3. I believe Steven Spielberg ought to worry more about whether Disclosure Day will do well at the box office, especially since the recent Transformers and Indiana Jones films cost Paramount Pictures a staggering $775 million in losses.

  4. Hes not wrong tho. Ballet and Opera have been struggling. Especially the last couple of years. Google it. And the only ppl who can really afford to go are the rich…. and thats a whole other conversation. Its mot accessible and is only being kept alive by the wealthy.

  5. Stop steering Timmothee` My friend taught ballet for 40 years, and she says the same thing. Both are dead arts. No one goes to see it to enjoy it. Its an obligation.

  6. Did Steven Spielberg (the author of the schindlers list movie) addresses apologies for addressing nothing about the genocide in gaza ??? i would have not criticize his attitude if he was not the author of the shindlerlist list great movie and great historic lesson.

  7. Ballet and opera seats range from $150-$1000 per seat for an art form only elitist appreciate tha last 2 hours. . Thank you Spielberg for your billionaire support of an artform 99% of America doesn't support, and couldn't even if they wanted. This is a specifcally a rich white person, 1st world problem. Cry me a river

  8. It's sad that classical forms of art are being discarded as "uninteresting" by the younger generations…they are the stems of greatness on which performances are drawn today. Anyone who is recommended to acquire more "grace" in their movements, is recommended to take ballet as an instant boost to their appearance. …after all, what are "movie stars" without their appearance??!!…or opera and the vocals, notes, symphony, rhythm….the pillars of the music industry, as a whole.

  9. Sounds like people are looking for something to offended by. I may not agree with him, but you cannot impose your views on others. Stop offended culture. Believe in what you are doing, and stand by it. Don’t need others approval to live your truth.
