What a fabulous interview. You always manage to bring out such unique qualities in every interviewee. No one else comes close to getting such honesty and candor from interviews wrapped up in such fun.. And I love it when you talk about process. It makes the mystery disappear. Don't ever stop. No one talks about that in interviews either, not like you do. Just love everything about your show. It inspires me. Also, I love how you embrace ambition minus the ugly. LOL. Ambition good. just came here after i had a short from this episode on my facebook video feed. the comment (idek where it is on this interview yet, i've just started the video) from viola and amy about shakespeare that "what the FUCK are you saying???" just made me feel so frickin validated!!! i struggled like hell in high school english classes back in the late 2000s and early 2010s ….. bc shakespeare's works made me feel so goddamned stupid bc i couldn't underrstand them no matter how many cliff notes and "shakespeare in plain english" books my dad bought me. but yet, english was my strongest subject. HOW could i be SO BAD at shakespeare??? i was only ok in drama with shakespeare bc i could be in costume. and that even carried into my english degree 10 years ago now…. ouch. but yeah. NEVER in my life have i felt so validated by a comment from award winning actors 😅😭

It’s always so surprising when people expose how backwards Alabama can be, and it’s needed. I don’t live far from Union Springs and hearing it talked about on a podcast like this made me pause. In some ways it’s not surprising this book isn’t being talked about around here—we don’t tend to like to face our worst stories.
