    1. I want NOTHING to do with this movie. It's almost as though there were no actresses of Greek ancestry to play this role. But, the idea that this role should go to a white Israeli is just about as nauseating as it is insulting to Egyptians and Arabs the world over.
Cleopatra was of Macedonian Greek heritage on her fathers side, and while her mothers heritage remains uncertain, there are credible references to her being of possible Syrian descent.
In this day and age, I do NOT want to see Israelis (not Jews in general) parading around as yet another Hollywood whitewash of history.

This isn't some fictional character that can be replaced by virtually anyone because…they never existed. This is a historical figure, and if you're going to make a movie about such a person, then that movie should give a nod to the ancestry of that person. Hollywood, it appears, is just as bereft of integrity today as it was when it cast Elizabeth Taylor or Vivian Leigh in the role.
Most importantly is the deliberate distortion of history through the reflection of yet another white person pretending to be a person of color. When will this bullshit stop?
