i have to disagree goat. from what was described, it did seem like the album might be closer to lover than it is to speak now. lover isnt just a lover girl album, it explores all the complexities that you just described and i say it as a lover clowner. The album might be closer to speak now IMPACT wise as third albums are the first time an artist is reviewed without the debutee goodwill, but thematically, it sounds so much like lover.
she is THE taydaughter and you can tell her music is heavily inspired by taylor, but that’s not a bad thing! it doesn’t make her a copycat, bored, uninspired, or derivative of taylor at all. it’s a difference between naturally being similar to somebody and not being able to write a song and thinking “hey, i’ll just copy taylor and write a song that she’d write!”
