    1. Big cultural misunderstanding. In America that would be considered rude and overly familiar. In LOTS of other cultures you don't touch others (especially of the opposite sex) who aren't your spouse or direct blood relative.
      It's such an ingrained social norm that others would assume you know not to and are doing it intentionally.

    2. Why the women in South Asian countries are uncomfortable with men touching them is because most men do it here as a sexual harrasment. When we go on buses public places groping by men has become a headache to a lot of women so we jump even af teh slightest touch. Because believe it or not most local men do it out of sexual reasons nine out of ten times.
