  1. Cannot believe anyone would sign on to be a part of this hateful woman’s legacy after the years she has dedicated to terrorizing the trans community. Shame on all of them.

  2. Good reminder of all of her disgusting actions and opinions. I hope this follows her everywhere this show goes. I wish no ill upon the kids involved, I hope they are protected.

My partner is a big Harry Potter fan, loves it, except now she’s saddened something she loves is tarnished by this idiots bigotry.

  3. This really isn’t well known in the US, especially when HP is just seen as a good way to get kids into reading. I hope this information spreads more broadly.

I’m a cis gay man and the amount of hatred and bigotry trans men and women have faced over the last decade has been utterly staggering.

While anti trans bigotry has always been around it has spiked massively in recent times thanks to JKR. I’m British, the state of LGBTQ+ rights over here are in freefall with trans rights on the chopping block. This is what JKR supports financially. She wants a complete erasure of trans people.

it’s sad that a huge part of her transphobia comes from her deep resentment for being born a woman. she thinks it’s something biologically immutable, something you can’t “claim” without feeling the exact way she feels and suffering the exact ways she’s suffered, because she’s bitter and myopic and hates herself. the thought of trans people finding joy makes her so rabid because it threatens the legitimacy of her hangups and shatters her worldview.

Total arsehole in the UK, I only know a few people who support her, and the younger ones don’t at all. They “still love the books”, as they grew up with them, but “she’s awful” as my 19-year old honorary niece said.

One of the craziest things about this project to me (barring the transphobia) is how long it will take. I think the HBO ceo said they won’t be able to make seasons yearly. 14 years is a long time to play a character who’s meant to be 17 at the oldest it will be stranger things on steroids if doesn’t get cancelled half way through

  8. It doesn’t just stop with transphobia, it never does. She hold many bigoted, outdated, and dangerous opinions and has also liked/retweeted alt-right and neo-Nazi users.

  9. Not to mention that once again the comments are filled with how cute they think these random children are. We need mandatory CGI children forever. Resumemememe treatment for them all.

  10. Didn’t she outright say that she uses the money from adaptations to fund anti trans groups and legislation?

Hypothetical question: if she were to have passed away prior to this show having even been in the early concept phases, would the actors involved still be in hot water? Is the issue purely that she profits and uses those profits against the trans community? Will it be safe territory once she’s gone?

  12. Leftists won’t watch because of JKRs transphobia, Right wingers won’t watch because snapes black, centrists won’t watch because they can’t read-

    Who is this show for?

Don’t forget when she attacked the ace community last year on international asexual day: https://www.reddit.com/r/EnoughJKRowling/comments/1jt6jck/jk_rowlings_full_comments_about_asexuality/

As an asexual who grew up with Harry Potter, this fully broke me. I was already done supporting her before that, but NO ONE can tell you how much it truly hurts for someone who made your childhood book series boldly declare that she hates people like you. I had never seen acephobia before the comments under her tweet. She proved her own point wrong. Sick.

JK watched the new Louis Theroux and was sad he was picking on her friends.

I know it sounds pathetic, but Harry Potter was a huge part of my life for such a long time. I went to midnight book releases. I went to movie openings in costume. I’m a librarian- and was a children’s librarian for a decade. At work I planned annual Harry Potter Birthday celebrations, potions classes, etc. I wrote a paper in grad school defending the books and how it got non-readers back into reading. I amassed so much merch- probably thousands of dollars worth. I was even planning a Harry Potter Nursery for my child!

Then she liked that post in 2018. We all side-eyed. I, like the whole fandom, hoped/assumed it was a one-off mistake. Then in 2019 she affirmed it.

    That’s all it took.

Decor came down. Merch was purged. Like it was such an easy decision- a no brainer! It’s so easy to NOT support JK Rowling. She will never get another dime from my lesbian ass. And it is just wild to me that people still make excuses for her or try to justify this “separate the art from the artist” nonsense.

I love how this will be forever a part of her legacy. Trans people just want to live and be themselves. Idk what the issue is with that? For the religious zealots there’s not even anti trans passages in any religious texts I know of, not that old ass books should ever be a complete guide on how to live anyways. Maybe she’s mad some trans women naturally look better than she does, which isn’t difficult for any woman to achieve but still lol

This whole show is genuinely so upsetting. As a former HP fan, I can’t help but think of how amazing it could be if it weren’t for the dark cloud that is JK Rowling. The damage she had caused is irredeemable and yet the majority of the public don’t care. They love that we are getting a rehash of this story “to do the books justice” or whatever bullshit to cover up their lack of a spine when it comes to standing by your morals. I grew up with these books. Did I wish the movies were better? Yeah but I don’t think that warrants a whole new adaptation, especially if the author only seemed to get behind the idea after her main trio refused to defend her horrendous transphobia. And now we’ll have to deal with years of this poorly-lit crap while these young actors age out of their roles and get bullied relentlessly in the internet. Every two years, we’ll have to deal with consumers frothing out the mouth for more meanwhile JK is going to keep contributing to the harm if one of the most marginalized communities on the planet. God, I just want something different. Please can we have adaptations of fantasy written by decent people (preferably stories with good representation)?
