Yes.  Gross stupidity is generally a red flag.  There are some artists who are no shit stars… Bey, Taylor, MJ, Metallica.  It doesn’t matter if you like what they do.  It’s obvious why they are who they are.

I notice that the people who say “I don’t see the hype around Beyoncé” are all white dudes who only know Halo and Single Ladies

I don’t particularly enjoy Beyoncé’s music and think her husband is a god tier POS, but if anybody says that they don’t understand her appeal or think she’s untalented, then yeah they’re either trying to be a contrarian just to sound interesting or they’re just dumb.

Preach. It’s telling. Across reddit, it’s ironically Beyoncé and Zendaya that get this treatment.

To me when this is raised unprompted, it’s contrarianism, racism, obtuseness, whatever. It raises an alarm for me until I can discern which one it is.

  5. She really is fishing for that biopic casting isn’t she? She’s brought up Beyoncé for every interview for this movie so far…

I actually I agreed with herm
You may not like Beyoncé but this way to try downplay her talent is very telling

It’s a red flag for me too, but not in the way she’s saying. I just side eye anyone who goes above and beyond to put a black person down. It’s like I’m not the biggest Taylor Swift fan but I’m not gonna go out of my way to hate her or shade her just cuz she’s some blonde, pop princess. But people do indeed love to do this about Beyonce or Oprah — as if to nullify these women’s accomplishments.

Not really relevant to her skill, but Idk why Beyoncé seems to be venerated among general pop culture like as if she’s not on the same billionaire bs as other celebrities of her caliber

I get it I really do. She has amazing songs. But I can’t stand The Carters and I think the worship they receive is cult-like lol

I think it’s obvious that she’s massively talented but I think it’s also the case that she doesn’t speak up on anything unless it’s politically expedient for her. But same is true for Zendaya and Tom Holland, I guess, which pains me to say because I like them both. Can’t remember them saying anything about Palestine though.

Good thing what Zendaya thinks is irrelevant. Beyonce uses Blackness only when it’s advantageous to her. She is a capitalist who weaponizes Black imagery and “wokeness” for cultural cachet and sales when convenient. Her husband is also a trash person, but that’s a whole other ballgame.

i think its more of a red flag to take someone’s opinion on a celebrity as a testament to their “bad” character. i love beyonce and have seen her concert in real life but people are allowed to not understand her appeal, she’s extremely manufactured which isnt everyones cup of tea…. yes she’s skilled but that doesn’t make her entitled to worship from everyone…

  13. I think Robert was about to say “But you’re genuinely friends with Beyoncé.”

When I watched her drop a rendition of Tina Turner at the Kennedy Center Award show, I was like…holy shit, she’s got skills. Same thing when Lady Gaga dropped the Sound of Music at its 50th anniversary tribute at the Oscars…as a singer, she is next level.

  15. Beyonce sucks. Sorry. 😛
It’s nice that US artists support and promote each other, but yeah. No.

  16. MysticalNinja187 on

I agree with Zendaya. Beyonce music and image have become inherently political however, so that’s usually why you see “certain types not getting it” and performatively doing so…

🚩Meghan “I never looked up my husband online. I just didn’t feel the need to because everything that I needed to know, he was sharing with me”

  18. Oh shit I actually don’t know any Beyoncé song. I could probably tell who she is in a picture but that’s it. It can’t be that weird.
