I love a good prediction post, so what artist/actor/athlete do you think will still be part of our cultural conversation a couple decades from now? We’re talking 2045/2046. It sounds crazy to even say. By relevant, I don’t necessarily mean at the top of the box office or selling out stadiums because that might not apply to anybody today, but someone who is still around and talked about. They might be starring in supporting roles, presenting Best Picture at the Oscars, or collabing with younger artists. Or they could still be at the top of their game.

My pick is Emma Stone. She’s already set herself up to be one of the greats and she’s still young. I think she’s got a lot of gas left in her tank and we haven’t even seen her at her personal best. She’s relevant, but not to the point where she is overexposed. I can’t see her crashing and burning anytime soon.

Edit: Love all the responses so far! What about some older celebs who have already been around for a couple decades? Who’s gonna be the De Niro or Cher of the future?

  1. Saoirse Ronan is a big one. I’m surprised she’s only 30, but I think she’ll continue to be a favorite of directors, live her private life in the U.K., and have a long career.

  2. The way Emma Stone has navigated her career is nothing short of masterful. La La Land was one of the biggest cultural touchstones in the past decade, but she continued to challenge herself with difficult roles afterwards, in a age a lot of actors at that point would just want to cash in with Marvel and blockbuster slop. Props to her and her team

Florence Pugh will be fine. She already have great portfolio and is booked all the time.

Anne Hathaway has already proved she has staying power, and based on the fact she has 5 films coming out just this year, I think we’re going to see films, television, and theatre from her for the rest of her life

Like them or not, I really can’t imagine Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Lady Gaga “falling off” at this point. All of them have well over a decade (Beyoncé has over two decades!) of being hugely successful and respected, plus they all have devoted fandoms. They’ll probably always be big deals.

I can also see Miley Cyrus pretty consistently in the limelight. Her musical eras can sometimes ebb and flow in terms of success, but she’ll always be beloved by people who grew up with her, plus she has a lot of respect from legends for her great covers and just generally being a born entertainer.

I’ll also throw Kelly Clarkson in the mix. Based on how beloved her talk show was, and how her voice just keeps improving over 20 years from winning American Idol, I think the public will be willing to follow her as long as she’s willing to be around, sort of in a Dolly Parton way.

Whoever will be playing that new Bond because that’s like golden ticket for long running career

I’m hoping it’s Julia Garner. That Madonna biopic going nowhere seems to hold her back at the moment however. I also don’t think that she’s respected and appreciated as much as she should be in my opinion.

Kaitlyn Dever is another one, who I’m hoping will break out big and have the staying power. Both are amazingly talented actresses to be able do so and have a great portfolio of indie films and TV shows to showcase it.

Great actress. Great acting range. Still quite young.

Anna Taylor Joy. Marvelous actor. The Queen’s Gambit was fascinating, and I LOVED her in Emma.

In sports, Lamine Yamal is practically a certainty. He’s already an international hero and Ballon d’Or runner-up at age 18, and he hasn’t even played in his first World Cup yet. He’s either going to be the face of football for the next 20 years or the most famous “what if?” case of all time.

Caitlin Clark, too. She’s already had the pioneer effect of transcending sport into a cultural conversation, so even if she doesn’t end up as the GOAT she’s still going to be referenced for decades.

Victor Wembanyama has to be in the conversation as well. There’s no precedent for an athlete who can do the things he does on a basketball court, and he has all the makings of a generational icon. Unfortunately there’s also no precedent for someone that size, carrying that kind of offensive and defensive load, handling the physical demands of the modern NBA without their body breaking down at some point.

Love or hate her I doubt she’s losing relevancy any time soon.

I think Anya Taylor-Joy. She’s talented. Has a variety of film genres under her belt already. Uniquely good looking. Still young. Doesn’t get in trouble, so career derailing controversy isn’t likely. Speaks Spanish as well so even international films are an option for her. Does both big budget blockbusters and independent films, as well as TV. Also has contracts with companies like Dior and Tiffany which help her exposure. She’s set up for a long career lol

Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor. They’re both extremely talented and have great taste, and they seem grounded.

Kirsten Dunst! She’s been doing great for 30 years, I think she could go another 20 for sure. She always makes such interesting choices.

  15. Pretend-Sundae-2371 on

Anne Hathaway and Reese Witherspoon aren’t going anywhere- although I think Reese will withdraw from acting for her behind the scenes work.

Taylor Swift has been around for 2 decades and every year she just keeps getting more successful than ever. Also Zendaya I absolutely love her.

  17. in terms of actors, it’s really difficult to predict at this specific moment in time because it’s going to come down to whoever doesn’t touch their face too much. these things go in cycles, and eventually there will be a cultural backlash against all the facial procedures and people will crave actors whose faces can emote, and whoever’s left over the age of 50 with moveable faces will benefit.

No jacob elordi mention? His performance in Frankenstein and Saltburn have me picturing his silver fox era fr

Ryan Gosling and Taylor Swift will still be relevant, they’ve both got 20 years of success under their belt and both continue to make commercially successful projects/music with many productive years ahead. Taylor will likely not only continue to make music but I think she’ll possibly develop her writing/directing/producing skills in musicals/film or she’ll start her own music label At some point.

  20. The ones who stick to conservative levels of Botox and no filler imo. Timothee chalamet locked in. I don’t see him doing too much to his face. I could see Austin Butler keeping it minimal for most his life and then going overboard in old age. I could see Paul Mescal keeping it natural. I could see Glen Powell going the route of Gosling (doing too much then fixing it) or Mcconaughey (obvious signs of minimal Botox but still aging gracefully).

It’s a LOT harder to guess which women will succumb to the pressure and which won’t. Daisy Edgar Jones better not even think about it.

Margaret Qualley seems to be a force.

I”ve only seen her in The Substance and Honey, Don’t! But I was blown away by her acting in both.

  22. I think Kate Winslet will have a Judi Dench/Helen Mirren level of longevity and esteem

  23. duochromepalmtree on

I would bet money that Keke Palmer only gets bigger and bigger and becomes a household name and is around for the next fifty years.

  24. Expert_Marsupial_235 on

I’d pick Rachel McAdams and Margot Robbie. They are not just pretty faces for lead roles, they are very talented actresses.

  25. Hyperbolicalpaca on

I think Sadie Sink could still be

She’s already been part of arguably one of the biggest shows of all time and is about to be in what might well be (judging by the reaction to the trailer) one of the biggest films this decade, in a part which is yet to be disclosed but has insane hype.

And if rumours are true about who she’s playing she might be a key figure in the MCU for the next however many years.

She’s been in an Oscar winning film, a Tony nominated play (which she is executive producing and staring in a film adaptation of) and an emmy nominated television show

And she got to present a BAFTA to promote her stating in Romeo and Juliet in the west end

  26. Dreamer_Sara on

Anne Hathaway already proved herself in terms of longevity and relevance and I think she will continue to do so even at an older age. Reese Witherspoon is a huge producer and a powerhouse in the business. Taylor Swift will continue strongly even if she ventures into other types of work.

If your question about modern celebrities are those current ones in their 20s then maybe Elle Fanning, Zendaya, Kylie Jenner, Caitlin Clark, Anya Taylor Joy…
