“Hopefully I can influence younger people.”

“I hope I can show people how beautiful it is. When they see me as an owner of a yacht, maybe they will think this could be a really good option to relax, have fun and see how beautiful the sea is.”

I know he’s young but this is so incredibly out of touch it’s unreal, rich people have no idea what reality the majority of the rest of the world is living. “Oh I bought a yacht, maybe in the next ten years when I need more space I’ll buy another yacht”.

Meanwhile people can’t find work, they can’t eat, can’t get medical care but yeah we’ll be sure to look into being yacht owners!

JFC, rich people are so selfish and boring. I hope a whale takes out his yatch!

  3. Standard shilling for the brand endorsement. It’s just instead of it being MAC or Chanel, it’s a yacht company.

Edit: tbh I’d rather he did it for yachts, which let’s be honest, isn’t influencing anyone who wasn’t already looking to buy a yacht, than dodgy diet/protein shakes or GLP1.

Sailing is absolutely great, and you can get into it for very lower middle class money, but yeah this guy is way out of touch. Even rich people know if you want to take a big boat out you rent it for a week or two, owning one is a ludicrous financial proposition.

He can buy as many yachts and private jets as he like with his own money, but there is no need to flaunt it in the name of “influencing”. The only thing he should influence is Tennis and then fuck off with his yacht to deep sea.

Damn, I’m so glad he influenced me because like most people, I only needed a tennis player to serve as an inspiration to drop 9 mill on a yacht. Because like most mortals, I only lack inspiration and not the actual money. /s

Does a yacht like that require a full staff to operate or is it something he could take out by himself for the weekend?

Is everyone just constantly day drunk at the moment? What kind of absolute nonsense even *is* this?!

  9. Well, I wasn’t going to buy a yacht but now that I’ve seen the World No. 1 tennis player has one, I’m all in. That was the only thing stopping me.

Yacht is by far the worst investment any rich person can make. So even if some rich trustfund kid buys a yacht after being influenced by him, it’s still a waste of money.

  11. It’s crazy the amount of hate that Carlos is receiving. Sinner has a Ferrari but nobody complains here on reddit

  12. It’s almost altruistic of him frankly.

Just out here, generously giving people hopes and dreams

Alacaraz is obviously out of touch, tennis players are an incredibly insulated lot for the most part, but actors and sports people are constantly shilling things that are way beyond the affordability of the average person. Are we mad at Zendaya for the Rolex deal?

  14. I’m not trying to excuse it because it’s very out of touch but anyone familiar with Alcaraz knows he’s like…. incredibly dumb. His mind exists to play and know tennis and nothing else.

“And you’re absolutely positive only the readers of Superyacht Times will read this, right?”

This kind of aspiration is over and it’s ridiculous the wealthy keep trying to act like it’s a thing

In the 70s, it is totally understandable for a kid to see a guy in a cool car and think “wow, if I work hard I could get this car when I’m grown up!”

Now, you see something like this and it’s like “wow that guy has so much money what a nice car, anyway, I wonder if I’ll ever be able to afford to move out of my parents house”

  17. He influenced me to read this out loud to my partner so we can laugh at him together. I said, “Wow! If only us poors ever thought of buying a yacht and going out to appreciate how beautiful the ocean is!”

  18. In fairness, he’s just doing a paid endorsement in a magazine about yachts. He’s talking about other *extremely wealthy* young people. He definitely could have worded it because with this he sounds like an out of touch idiot, but the context does add a *slight* improvement.

bless him; he’s one of the greatest to ever do it but it’s widely acknowledged it’s quite empty up there.

  20. Is there anyone that is just collecting these quotes when we have to tell the story of how late stage capitalism ate us all alive?
