Remember, Anne was “the spare” for 10 years.

She has managed just fine by building and leading her own life, while continuing to represent the RF. And refusing titles for her children, which I think was a very sensible decision and one that Harry should have followed

British aristocrat discovers primogeniture. News at 5.

But seriously, by the time William becomes King, the “Royal Family” will probably be just the 5 of them. His aunts and uncles will be old, the Yorks and the Sussexes are out for the reasons we all know.

If they want it (and depending on their ages when it happens) Charlotte and Louis will not be minor afterthoughts (like Edward was until recently) they will be front and centre.

  3. I mean…. probably?

The problem that spares run into is when they haven’t found purpose in their life outside of being the spare. I suspect Charlotte and Louis will be encouraged to pursue higher education or career paths that bring them fulfillment. Finding purpose and meaning in their lives outside of just being the sibling to the king (or future king) will probably cut off the issues that many spares run into.

Yes, William and Catherine will likely encourage all of their children to pursue higher education, which will help Charlotte and Louis find something non-Royal to be interested in. I’m sure William is looking at his aunt Anne as a model for what the “spares” can do.

I would imagine the Middletons can impart some degree of fiscal responsibility into all three of them so that none of them run into the issues Andrew has (and I’m not even touching the big issue Andrew has)

  5. I’ve always found this conversation interesting. Cause they all KNOW there’s a problem, but when Harry or Margaret mention there being a problem, suddenly there isn’t one lol

I think Kate will handle this well, actually. She seems particularly doting to Louis and Charlotte
