I live in Covington where the Mystic Grill and clock tower is. I talk to people from around the world who visit. I'm amazed at the allure of the show. It's almost like there's a spell on the viewers… I'm fascinated by the phenomenon. It appears that Women are in desire and need of "feeling" a certain way… not logic or reason. "Feelings" rock their world… the butterflies, disappointment, anticipation… the hurricane and the eye of the storm. Women appear to want a man who is capable of extreme violence (security and protection), but women want to be able to control him and not be hurt by him. This tension is seen everywhere in story and in life… the Beauty and the Beast phenomenon. The origins… TVD is a retelling of the fallen angels who rebelled against God and were kicked out of Heaven. They traded occult knowledge (magic, science) with men for their daughters. The fallen "sons of God" made hybrids with angels, humans and animals… for real. In Genesis 6, we see giants (Nephilim) created as a type of hybrid. In the book of Enoch, we see much more, and the hybrids had erratic emotions and prophetic dreams from God of their demise in the great flood …which tormented them. Some of the hybrids consumed human blood for longevity… the first vampires. Disembodied Nephilim spirits are caught in limbo of sorts… roaming the earth… looking for bodies to possess (these Nephilim spirits are commonly known as demons). It appears some of them survived the flood and here we are today… seeking to understand what we are, where we came from, where we are going and what the reality is. The answer is love. God loves us and wants relationship with us. In TVD, everyone is seeking some form of love… albeit in varied states of confusion and complicated with sins. Jesus is the ultimate answer to live our best life here and for eternity. With Jesus, we can have our sins forgiven and gain entrance into Heaven for eternity. This love from God is what everyone desires deep in our hearts. It is more precious than anything on Earth. And we can have it all if we follow Jesus. They say truth is stranger than fiction… and I agree.
