Is How I Met Your Mother’s Ending Still Terrible?

While I wouldn’t say that the ending is the single most important part of a story, I would argue that it’s the part of the experience most people will remember the most. After all, it’s the last part than anyone sees. Your feelings at the conclusion are what you will think about for years to come.

That’s why entertainment like Game of Thrones, Chainsaw Man, or even How I Met Your Mother dropped the ball so terribly. The story of Ted Mosby’s journey to become the man ready for Tracey needed him to be for their relation to work came crashing down in the last few minutes. Literally, the entire final season was made pointless.

This became so bad that fans have simply decided to ignore the final episode. Everyone has different head canon. How I Met Your Mother ended with Ted meeting the mother after years of development from an immature man to the person willing to let go of an absurd life with Robin he had planned in his mind. And no one can change that, even twelve years later.

    1. This is absolutely awful. You spent 30 minutes saying absolutely nothing of substance because your ego is in the way. For someone claiming to be a lifelong student of storytelling, you have zero grasp on the economy of language. Nobody cares about your plumbing or your personal anecdotes, and trying to act like your life is more interesting than the show you are supposedly "analyzing" is a joke.

You completely missed the actual narrative layers. Ted is a calculated narrator, not an "unreliable" one with a bad memory. He spent nine seasons systematically bashing Barney and framing his marriage to Robin as a mistake just so his kids would feel sorry for Robin. It is a 200 episode justification for his own obsession, yet you never even touched on the moral vacuum of him returning to her after his wife died. Yeah some expert.

Instead of actual insight, you wasted the first five minutes on a "tough guy" act about popping fictional characters and bashing real people. Nobody believes that narrative. You are making YouTube videos about a sitcom; you are not a threat. Your channel will fail because it is all ego and zero technical precision. If you want to be a storyteller, learn how to get to the point. You might want to actually learn what the damn show you're talking about is about.

    2. this video just sucks. It was just 30 minutes of talking with zero substance. the way you talk also sucks jesus christ yor trying to make an enjoyable youtube video, but it looks more like hate speech

    3. Dude, god damn. You claim to be a student of story telling yet I had to stop your video after the first quarter. Nobody cares of how you would punch X or Y in the face. To much ego, to much beating around the bush. Nice try tho, got me curious by the title.

    4. I think it’s actually fine that they had the ending picked out before hand. I absolutely hate when show runners change the course of the show due to fan service or the reactions of the audience

    5. Yes it is bad. It propagates the wrong message… someone who u choose also chooses u without waiting for other options and then u as the last resort??? F that. Besides ted and robin had no chemistry
